Anne Cichra started dance when she was five years old.  The story goes that she one day out of the blue “told” her parents that she would be taking ballet class.  Who knew that from that day it would turn into a life-long passion.  Her training began at Nina Cameron’s Dancenter in Gainesville, FL under the instruction of Nina Cameron.  Here she studied ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, and tap.  Additional training and performance experience came from being a member of the Danscompany of Gainesville, each year the company performs the full length ballet Cinderella at Christmas and a Jazz Concert in the spring.  While a member, she has performed the role of Cinderella, Autumn Fairy, Winter Fairy, Butterfly Queen, etc.     

            In addition to the yearly training, Anne has also gone off every summer to train with various ballet companies including Atlanta Ballet, The Rock School (Pennsylvania Ballet), Columbia City Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theater, etc.  Some of the faculty of these programs has included Gelsey Kirkland, Patricia Miller, Edward Villella, Robert Barnett, and many others.  Additional training came from attending Master classes with Mia Michaels (So You Think You Can Dance), Dance Theater of Harlem, Cast from Fosse (touring show), etc.  

            At 18, she moved to Orlando, FL to train at Southern Ballet Theater (now Orlando Ballet).  Here she trained and performed with the company for two years before deciding to go back to college.  So, she ended up back in Gainesville, FL at the University of Florida where she earned a degree in Wildlife Ecology. 

            Back in Gainesville, Anne began dancing at Nina Cameron’s Dancenter again.  Over the next couple of years many opportunities for teaching began to surface.   She was given the chance to fill in as a substitute for other instructors.   That is where the love for teaching got its start and Anne was hooked.  Shortly after, Anne was added on as a faculty member of the studio.  She has also been a substitute dance instructor at the University of Florida, and is also a certified member of Florida Dance Masters in Ballet and Jazz.
